Mindfulness
is a technique which allows the user to focus the mind and body
so that they are in control and aware of themselves and not at the
mercy of unecessary thought or concerns. Mindfulness enables one
to look at oneself and one's circumstances from a different perspective
and this in turn frees one from old thought patterns and concepts.
It is increasingly recognised as a particularly effective technique
which can be used to overcome a range of personal issues, from the
control of pain to the reduction of anxiety.
Thoughts
such as , 'Why does this always happen to me?' 'Why am I always
in pain?' 'How can I forget what has happened to me?' play on our
minds and often seem to be impossible to answer. Mindfulness helps
to achieve a re-evaluation of how an individual feels.
We all
begin from the same place, but as we grow and become who we are,
we often allow life to take us in what seems to be the wrong direction,
and as a result end up in a place we do not want to be. Alternatively
'life happens to us' and we feel we are given more than we can cope
with. How do we move on? Mindfulness practice enables the adherent
to step aside and give themselves time to look at where they are,
and as a result where they want to be.
